DEXA Scan

A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), or DXA scan, is an enhanced X-ray image of the skeleton that provides the most accurate bone density scans available.

Bone density tests evaluate bone mineral density and are most often used to determine whether patients have osteoporosis, a condition in which bones are weakened and fracture easily. Having such information from this bone density scan will give your doctor a better idea of the next steps to take.
